Grizzel made the motion to accept the previous meeting minutes. Bev Smith 2nd. 8-0.
Teresa
distributed a spreadsheet with balances and totals for 2008 with an ending
balance of $48,419.32 (see attached report)
Gov.
Commission-Janna
Hocker reported there would be no 5th Friday regional meeting this
month. She announced an upcoming CADCA
training July 26-30 as well as a Points of Youth training April 15 at Northside
Christian church in New Albany. Janna
also reported that there would be another RFP for Safe & Drug Free Schools
grants sometime this year. They may
also allow Charter schools as applicants this round. ICJI will be celebrating
20th Anniversary with history of LCC’s.
Tobacco
Coalition-Missy
Stroud reported progress being made in expanding the coalition by working with
the school corporation towards a tobacco free campus by August 2009 Hopefully, this will include the Little
League and outdoor sports events. She
also reported that Jasper Engines has been a good participant with reimbursement
for treatment. She has been in contact
with Sen. Richard Young and stated he is supportive and on board with Relay for
Life. This year will be a bigger focus
on secondhand smoke.

Presentation-Terri
Wedding, of Appriss, presented information to the council regarding the
web-based booking system Vinelink.com, an offender information site. She explained how it is used and reported
that Crawford is now on board. Data on
offenders may be accessed using the case number.
New
Business-
Officers were elected for 2009. Kim
Grizzel nominated Jon Kuss (Chair), Terry Allen (Vice-Chair), and Jim Grizzel
(Treasurer) to serve as officers. Bev
Smith 2nd. 8-0.
In
other business, Teresa reminded the council that the 2009 mini-grant cycle was
in progress and application deadline is March 10.
Announcements-Cheryl Hillenburg announced
the 2-day training with Terry Hull will be at Orange Co. Community Center March
5 & 6 Cost is $10. Also, in
observance of Prevent Child Abuse Month, Dr. Laski will be speaking at Hillview
Christian Church on April 14. Cost is $10 and includes lunch. A candlelight
vigil will also be held. Kim Grizzel
announced CAREs is applying for a Safe Schools Federal grant and collaborating
with Perry Co. schools. Jon reported
that PACT is now holding literacy & GED classes for inmates.
Next
meeting is Feb. 17th.
