Treasurer’s Report-No Report

Gov. Commission-Janna announced that the Point of Youth program has been discontinued at this time and there will be no funds from the Summit. However, Joni is still taking a group to the event in New Albany.  The Many Voices conference may also be cancelled or shortened.  She reported the Burn Jag grant is available. The National Interdiction Conference is scheduled for Aug. 17-21 in Indianapolis @ the Westin Hotel. Registration is $250 and hotel $84.00.

Tobacco Coalition-Missy has finished the TEP/TAG training and working with YSB on the curriculum to be used.   Missy also reported progress on policies with the school corporation relating to restricting tobacco use as well as second hand tobacco use on playgrounds, buses, and ball fields. Hopefully, a policy will be in place for a vote in June.

Grants-The following organizations presented proposals for the 2009 mini-grant application:  Probation (Prime for Life program), Hoosier Hills PACT (Behavioral Monitoring & Reinforcement Program), Crawford Co. Community School Corp (Brain & Addiction), Crawford Co. Youth Service Bureau (Drug & Alcohol Edu.), CARES (REPRESENT), Hoosier Hills PACT, (Life Skills Training), Crawford Co. High School (After-Prom)

Ray Saylor did prepare an application in the law enforcement category but did not meet the mail-in deadline. Because there was a similar situation in 2008 in the treatment category, the council voted to extend the deadline for the law enforcement category to April 17th so that all law enforcement agencies would have the same opportunity for additional time. (Motion by Kathy Kuss & 2nd Jim Grizzel 14-0)

Announcements-Cheryl reported that the training on March 5 & 6 was a great turnout and that Terry Hull, the trainer, was especially pleased. Cheryl also reminded everyone of the Prevention & Recognition of Child Abuse with Dr. Laskey on April 14 @ Hillview Christian Church.  Sharon Lawson distributed flyers of the 4-H Super Saturday event taking place on April 11.  Also mentioned was the SASSI assessment training April 3rd in Louisville.  Kim Grizzel announced a CARES Demolition Derby fundraiser taking place May 9th @ the 4-H Fairgrounds.  Fran Wheeler expressed appreciation for Ray Saylor’s donation of equipment and time to the Youth Service Bureau programs as well as the help of Sherrie Newton and Jim Grizzel with the suspension/expulsion program.

Next meeting is April 21st.
