Meeting Minutes

May 19, 2009

 

Those present:  Teresa Harp, LCC Coordinator, Fran Wheeler, Youth Service Bureau, Janna Hocker, Gov. Commission, Jon Kuss, Hoosier Hills Pact, Sheila Kempf, So. Hills Counseling, Jackie Young, Purdue Ext., Terry Allen, DNR, Missy Stroud, CC Tobacco Prevention Cessation, Lee Cable, Clarion News, Kathy Kuss, Hoosier Hills Pact, Jeff Knieriem, Milltown Police, Cheryl Hillenburg, CC Prosecutor

 

Approval of Minutes-Kathy Kuss made motion to accept previous meeting minutes. Terry Allen 2nd.  9-0.

 

Treasurer’s Report-No report

                         

Gov. Commission-Janna reported that she had renewed her contract as regional consultant. Janna reminded everyone of the Southwest Regional meeting to be held in Scottsburg on May 29th.  The focus will be on recruiting sectors for LCC’s.  Teresa will be on the panel to discuss ways that Crawford Co. has increased their representation.  Janna also shared information about 3 upcoming trainings: The National Conference on Gambling June 25-27 at the Hyatt in Indy, CADCA Training July 27-30 in Louisville, Drug Interdiction Training Aug. 17-21 (details on ICJI website).

 

Tobacco Coalition-Missy reported that the school corporation had passed a smoke-free policy.  The school nurses presented the information to the board and Missy was present to provide materials.  Missy also reported implementation of TEP/TAG at the Youth Service Bureau.

 

New Business-Teresa asked for volunteers to begin working on the 3-Year Comprehensive Plan that is due in October.  Kathy Kuss, Cheryl Hillenburg, and Sharon Lawson offered to be part of that committee.  Teresa also shared that Ray Saylor will be presenting a canine demonstration at the June meeting.  There was discussion regarding preparing for the next round of DFC funds in the spring.  Janna had learned of a grant writer with 100% success who might be available for hire. She will find out the contact information so that Jon could get in touch with the LCC’s who utilized him.  In other business, there was discussion of the continued need for representation for the medical sector.  Members made suggestions such as the school nurse, county nurse, and Dr. Thill. Teresa will also check with Bev.  Smith about her replacement for the clergy sector.
