Meeting Minutes

August 18th, 2009

Minutes were read and approved. Motion by Cheryl Hillenburg. 2^nd Lee Cable 14-0.

Treasurer’s Report-No report this month.

Gov. Commission-Janna reminded everyone of the next Southeast Regional meeting to be held Oct. 30. The focus will be on evidenced based/best practice prevention programs currently being implemented in Indiana as well as a guest presenter who will share strategies for funding these programs in our communities. There is a legislative alert regarding restoring funds to the Safe and Drug Free School Communities program that was zeroed out in Congress last month; members were asked to contact their legislators about how these funds have been helpful to our county (i.e. All-Stars program at the YSB through ICJI this past year). ICJI is now requiring all LCC’s to submit a signed LCC Minimum Standards form each year signed by the LCC chair and community consultant. Crawford County meets and/or exceeds all minimum standards. ICJI is also working on an on line resource library for LCC’s.

Tobacco Coalition-Missy reported that Crawford County is one of 8 smaller counties that did not receive any funds for this upcoming grant cycle. She has been reassigned to a different position. Her last official act is to present an award to the superintendent for adopting a smoke-free policy that night.

Grant Reporting-Kim No reports this month.

Sector Representation-Clergy? Medical?-Two medical suggestions were presented: Kim Allen, nurse at the high school (kallen@cccs.k12.in.us) and Howard Detwiller with the clinic.

New Business/Announcement-Jon announced that Tim Wilkerson received Indiana Sheriff of the Year. He was present for the hearty congratulations extended to him. Also, Jon announced the CCP committee would be meeting next Tuesday, the 25^th, 8:30 am in English (jury room).

Next meeting is September 15th.
